Comparitives: Adjectives

Compartives: Adjectives

Per fare un paragone in inglese ci sono due metodi:

1)      Subject + as + adjective + as + Subject:

A)    He is not as tall as he looks.

B)     The mall is not as crowded as usual.

C)     They are not as fun as their father.

Note: gli aggettivi non cambiano con questa formula

2)      subject + adjective + than + subject:

A)    Our classroom is bigger than your classroom.

B)     English is not easier than German.

C)     She is shorter than her sister.

Note: con questa formula gli aggettivi cambiano aggiungendo er

1-syllable adjectives + er

If the word ends with Consonant + vowel + consonant

Then the last consonant is doubled

2-syllable adjectives ending in y: remove y + ier

Other 2-syllable adjectives + more (do not change the adjective)

3 or more syllables: + more + adjective

My sister is taller than me.

big: bigger; hot: hotter

English seems easier than Italian.

Jane is happier than Joe.

The mall is always more crowded on black Friday.

History books tend to be more boring than thrillers.

Italian grammar is more difficult than English grammar.

I find yoga more enjoyable than school.
